Rocca

History and family
In 1960, Ernesto Rocca (son of Angelo) installed the first wine bottling line, and from that moment the Rocca family began producing and distributing wine under the Rocca brand.
In 1999, feeling a great love for the region of Puglia and its wines, he bought an estate in Leverano, in the heart of Salento.
In 2009, the Rocca Family became the main shareholder of the historic Dezzani winery in Piedmont, thereby realizing new commercial goals and opportunities.
Nowadays, Paolo, Marco, Luca and Matteo (sons of Ernesto Rocca) are at the head of the holding, which is engaged in wine production, as well as the construction business and the breeding of thoroughbred horses. Emanuele and Ernesto, sons of Luci and Marco, represent the fifth generation in the family's wine business.
Wine production
The company produces wines of DOC, DOCG and IGT categories, from the most prestigious regions, in consumer packaging of various sizes and types, providing a choice of various brands.
The new, modern plant for the production and bottling of wine has a large wine cellar for aging and storage of finished products with an area of 5 thousand m2, with an ideal storage temperature and humidity level
Our plant has an automatic cold sterile bottling line with a capacity of 10,000 bottles per hour.
Winery
The Rocca winery includes two estates: Don Catalado and Vignali Grandi. Own vineyards are located on 100 hectares of land in Leverano, in the heart of Salento, just three kilometers from the coast of the Ionian Sea. The unique terroir consists mainly of clay carbonate soil, with a predominance of tuff rubble in some places.
The influence of the warm Mediterranean climate, along with modern technologies, careful selection of grapes and skilled management, allows Rocca to maintain the high quality of products at a constant level.
The autochthonous varieties of Negroamaro, Malvasia, Nera and Primitivo, as the brightest representatives of this fertile land, are used to create such regional wine compositions as Leverano DOC.
Montepulciano and Lambrusco, along with the "international" varieties of Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, planted on our land in recent years, are already showing their excellent quality characteristics. The young and interesting Vermentino grape variety is used to create white wines, along with the noble and wonderful Chardonnay.
To make this place unique, the old estate was renovated, but the Rocca family kept the typical elements of the village tradition
